CVE-2020-8661 describes a denial-of-service vulnerability in CNCF Envoy versions through 1.13.0, as well as Red Hat Envoy and OpenShift Service Mesh. An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this by sending pipelined requests, causing the affected Envoy instance to consume excessive memory. With a CVSS score of 7.5 (High), this vulnerability has a low attack complexity and can lead to a complete loss of availability.
