CVE-2020-8498 describes a Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the GistPress plugin for WordPress, affecting versions prior to 3.0.2. An authenticated attacker with Contributor privileges can inject arbitrary JavaScript through the shortcode functionality's 'id' parameter. This medium-severity vulnerability (CVSS 5.4) requires user interaction and could lead to client-side code execution with the privileges of other users, such as administrators.
