CVE-2020-7245 describes an account takeover vulnerability in CTFd versions 2.0.0 through 2.2.2. Attackers can exploit incorrect username validation during registration by using whitespace-padded usernames to collide with existing accounts, enabling password resets and full account compromise. This critical vulnerability (CVSS 9.8) requires no authentication or user interaction and can lead to complete confidentiality, integrity, and availability loss. While no public exploits or active exploitation have been observed, and community discussion is minimal, the high severity warrants immediate patching.
