CVE-2020-27151 describes a critical vulnerability in Kata Containers versions through 1.11.3 and 2.x through 2.0-rc1, where the runtime executes binaries specified via annotations without validation. This allows an authenticated attacker with cluster access to execute arbitrary binaries as root on worker nodes. With a CVSS score of 8.8 (HIGH), the vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low privileges, leading to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
