CVE-2020-24685 describes a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting ABB AC500 V2 products with onboard Ethernet firmware version 2.8.4 and prior. An unauthenticated attacker can remotely send a specially crafted packet, causing the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) to stop functioning and require physical intervention to restart. This vulnerability carries a CVSS score of 8.6 (High) due to its network-based attack vector, low complexity, and high impact on availability, as it can completely halt critical industrial processes. Despite its severity, there is currently no public exploit code available (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), it is not listed in CISA's KEV catalog, and there is no evidence of active exploitation or significant community discussion.
