CVE-2020-24231 describes a critical vulnerability in Symmetric DS versions prior to 3.12.0, where the mx4j component, used for JMX over HTTP, lacks authentication by default and is exposed on all interfaces. This allows unauthenticated attackers to access JMX, retrieve system information, invoke MBean methods, and potentially achieve arbitrary code execution by installing remote MBeans via MLet. With a CVSS score of 9.8 (CRITICAL), this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low attack complexity, leading to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Currently, there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this CVE.
