CVE-2020-16163 affects RIPE NCC RPKI Validator 3.x before version 3.1-2020.07.06.14.28, where it fails to validate TLS HTTPS endpoints during RRDP fetches. This critical vulnerability (CVSS 9.1) allows remote attackers to bypass access restrictions and potentially cause denial of service to co-dependent routing systems. While third parties assert this behavior is intentionally permitted by RFC 8182, the lack of validation presents a significant risk. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this CVE.
