CVE-2019-16159 describes a stack-based buffer overflow in BIRD Internet Routing Daemon versions 1.6.x through 1.6.7 and 2.x through 2.0.5, affecting products like Debian, Fedora, NIC, and OpenSUSE. This vulnerability, rated High severity (CVSS 7.5), allows an unauthenticated attacker to cause a denial-of-service by sending a specially crafted BGP administrative shutdown message. While the overflow is small (four bytes, two attacker-controlled), it can lead to system instability.
