CVE-2019-1594 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in the 802.1X implementation of Cisco NX-OS Software, affecting various Nexus switch series when 802.1X is configured. An unauthenticated, adjacent attacker can exploit this by sending a crafted Extensible Authentication Protocol over LAN (EAPOL) frame due to incomplete input validation. This can cause the Layer 2 forwarding process to restart multiple times, leading to a system-level restart and a denial of service. Rated with a CVSS score of 7.4 (High), this vulnerability has an adjacent attack vector and low attack complexity, requiring no user interaction or privileges. The primary impact is a complete loss of availability for the affected device. There is no evidence of active exploitation, publicly available exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage regarding this vulnerability.
