CVE-2019-14356

19
FAUCET Score

CVE-2019-14356 describes a side-channel vulnerability in Coldcard MK1 and MK2 devices, where the power consumption of the OLED display varies based on the number of illuminated pixels. This allows for partial recovery of displayed contents, such as PINs or BIP39 mnemonics, if an attacker can measure power consumption via the USB connection while sensitive data is shown. Rated Medium (CVSS 5.3), the attack requires physical access and precise timing, making it highly impractical. While Coinkite has mitigated the issue, they consider it unproven and not a legitimate threat, and there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion.
