CVE-2019-13179 describes a vulnerability in Calamares versions 3.1 through 3.2.10 where a LUKS encryption keyfile is insecurely copied from /crypto_keyfile.bin to a globally readable initramfs image, exposing decryption keys for Full Disk Encryption. This high-severity vulnerability (CVSS 7.5) allows an unauthenticated attacker to remotely access sensitive information, specifically LUKS decryption keys, due to improper permissions. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, nor are there publicly available exploit modules or significant community discussion surrounding this CVE.
