CVE-2018-8851 describes a critical vulnerability in Echelon SmartServer 1, SmartServer 2 (prior to release 4.11.007), i.LON 100, and i.LON 600 devices, where passwords are stored in plaintext within configuration files. This flaw allows an attacker with access to these files to easily obtain credentials and log into the SmartServer web user interface. With a CVSS v3.0 score of 9.8 (CRITICAL), the vulnerability has a network attack vector, low attack complexity, and high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion surrounding this CVE.
