CVE-2018-8018 is a critical deserialization vulnerability affecting Apache Ignite versions prior to 2.4.8 and 2.5.3. The flaw allows for arbitrary code execution due to the absence of a class allowlist in the serialization mechanism, enabling attackers to exploit vulnerable third-party classes present in the Ignite classpath by sending a specially crafted serialized object to the GridClientJdkMarshaller deserialization endpoint. With a CVSS score of 9.8 (CRITICAL), this vulnerability has a network attack vector, low attack complexity, and high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There is currently no public exploit code available, no evidence of active exploitation, and minimal community discussion or media coverage surrounding this CVE.
