CVE-2018-6560 describes a sandbox escape vulnerability in Flatpak versions prior to 0.8.9, and specific 0.9.x and 0.10.x releases, also affecting Red Hat distributions. This flaw allows an attacker to break out of the Flatpak sandbox by sending specially crafted D-Bus messages to the host, exploiting a discrepancy in whitespace handling between the proxy and daemon. With a CVSS v3 score of 8.8 (HIGH), it presents a significant risk, enabling local attackers to achieve high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability with low attack complexity. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage surrounding this vulnerability.
