CVE-2018-5457 describes an uncontrolled search path element vulnerability in the Vyaire Medical CareFusion Upgrade Utility, affecting versions 2.0.2.2 and prior when used with Windows XP systems. This high-severity vulnerability (CVSS 7.0) allows a local attacker to achieve arbitrary code execution by installing a crafted DLL, which the application then loads, granting the attacker the same privileges as the application. While the attack complexity is high, a successful exploit can lead to full compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
