CVE-2018-3299 is a high-severity vulnerability (CVSS 8.2) in the Oracle Text component of Oracle Database Server versions 11.2.0.4, 12.1.0.2, and 12.2.0.1. This vulnerability allows an unauthenticated attacker with network access to cause a complete denial of service (frequent crashes) and unauthorized data modification (update, insert, delete) within Oracle Text. Exploitation requires user interaction, but successful attacks can significantly impact additional products beyond Oracle Text. There is currently no public exploit code available, and the vulnerability has seen minimal community discussion or media coverage.
