CVE-2018-18995 describes a critical authentication bypass vulnerability affecting all versions of ABB GATE-E1 and GATE-E2 Pluto Safety PLC Gateway Ethernet devices. The flaw stems from the inability to configure authentication for administrative Telnet and web interfaces, allowing unauthenticated remote attackers to perform device resets, read/modify registers, and alter configuration settings. With a CVSS score of 9.8 (CRITICAL), this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low attack complexity, leading to high impacts on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
