CVE-2018-18931 describes a privilege escalation vulnerability in Tightrope Media Carousel digital signage product version 7.0.4.104. Insecure default permissions on the C:\TRMS\Services directory allow an authenticated attacker to replace the legitimate Carousel.Service.exe with a malicious executable. Upon system reboot, this malicious executable is launched with SYSTEM privileges, granting the attacker full control. This vulnerability has a CVSS score of 8.8 (High), indicating a significant risk. The attack requires low privileges (PR:L) and has low attack complexity (AC:L), leading to high confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts (C:H, I:H, A:H).
