CVE-2018-18555 describes a critical sandbox escape vulnerability in VyOS 1.1.8, affecting the VyOS operating system. An authenticated operator user can bypass the restricted management shell by injecting special characters into commands, gaining access to the underlying Linux shell. This allows the execution of arbitrary operating system commands with the user's privileges. With a CVSS score of 9.9 (CRITICAL), this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low attack complexity, leading to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There is currently no known active exploitation, publicly available exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage surrounding this CVE.
