CVE-2018-17145 describes a remote Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability, dubbed INVDoS, affecting Bitcoin Core versions 0.16.x prior to 0.16.2, Bitcoin Knots, and other cryptocurrencies forked from Bitcoin Core after November 15, 2017. An attacker can exploit this by flooding a vulnerable node with multiple transaction inv messages containing random hashes. This vulnerability carries a CVSS score of 7.5 (High), indicating a network-based attack with low complexity and high impact on availability, as it can disrupt service without requiring user interaction.
