CVE-2018-17141

33
FAUCET Score

CVE-2018-17141 is a critical arbitrary code execution vulnerability affecting HylaFAX 6.0.6 and HylaFAX+ 5.6.0, including various Debian distributions. A remote attacker can exploit this by sending a specially crafted FAX page with the JPEG bit enabled during a dial-in session, which is mishandled in the FaxModem::writeECMData() function. With a CVSS score of 9.8, this vulnerability presents a severe risk due to its network-based attack vector, low complexity, and potential for complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Despite its critical severity, there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
