CVE-2018-16860 is a high-severity vulnerability affecting Samba's Heimdal KDC implementation in versions 4.8.x (excluding 4.8.12), 4.9.x (excluding 4.9.8), and 4.10.x (excluding 4.10.3) when operating in Active Directory Domain Controller (AD DC) mode. A man-in-the-middle attacker can exploit this flaw to intercept KDC requests and substitute the legitimate username with any existing principal, thereby obtaining a Kerberos ticket for that principal. This attack has high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability, with a CVSS score of 7.5, but requires high attack complexity and low privileges. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this vulnerability.
