CVE-2018-12539

25
FAUCET Score

CVE-2018-12539 describes a critical vulnerability in Eclipse OpenJ9 version 0.8 and IBM JVMs, allowing non-owner users on the same machine to leverage the Java Attach API for executing untrusted native code. This high-severity flaw (CVSS 7.8) has a low attack complexity and requires local access, but can lead to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. While no active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion has been observed, the Attach API is enabled by default on Windows, Linux, and AIX, making affected systems vulnerable unless explicitly disabled.
