CVE-2018-12356

32
FAUCET Score

CVE-2018-12356 is a critical vulnerability affecting Simple Password Store (pass) versions 1.7.x prior to 1.7.2. It stems from an incomplete regular expression in the signature verification routine, allowing remote attackers to spoof file signatures on configuration files and extension scripts. This flaw enables attackers to inject encryption keys to disclose passwords or achieve arbitrary code execution by modifying extension scripts. With a CVSS score of 9.8 (Critical), it presents a high risk due to its network-based attack vector and complete compromise potential. Despite its severity, there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion.
