It allows private DNS queries to be leaked to local network DNS servers even when a VPN is active. With a CVSS score of 7.5 (HIGH), this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with no user interaction, potentially leading to the disclosure of sensitive information. While some Ubuntu 16.04 packages initially received a fix that was later removed, an upstream solution is currently unavailable.
