CVE-2018-0303 is a critical vulnerability in the Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) component of Cisco FXOS and NX-OS Software, affecting numerous Cisco networking devices including various Nexus, Firepower, and UCS series if CDP is enabled. This flaw, rated with a CVSS score of 8.8 (High), allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to execute arbitrary code as root or cause a denial of service by sending a specially crafted CDP packet, exploiting insufficient header validation leading to a buffer overflow. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage regarding this vulnerability.
