CVE-2018-0253

31
FAUCET Score

CVE-2018-0253 describes a critical vulnerability in the ACS Report component of Cisco Secure Access Control System (ACS) releases prior to 5.8 Patch 7, allowing unauthenticated, remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands. The flaw stems from insufficient validation of the Action Message Format (AMF) protocol, enabling attackers to send crafted messages containing malicious code. With a CVSS score of 9.8 (CRITICAL), this vulnerability poses a significant risk, as successful exploitation grants full control (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability impacts are High) over the affected ACS device without requiring user interaction. Despite its severity, there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion surrounding this CVE.
