CVE-2017-9792

22
FAUCET Score

CVE-2017-9792 describes a privilege escalation vulnerability in Apache Impala (versions prior to 2.10.0) where a malicious user with "ALTER" permissions on an Impala table can bypass authorization controls. By altering table properties to make it "external" and redirecting the underlying Kudu table mapping, the attacker can access data in other Kudu tables without the required "ALL" server-scope privilege. This medium-severity vulnerability (CVSS 6.5) has a network attack vector and low attack complexity, potentially leading to high integrity impact (unauthorized data access). There is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this CVE.
