31
FAUCET Score

CVE-2017-9225 is a critical stack out-of-bounds write vulnerability in Oniguruma 6.2.0, affecting Ruby through 2.4.1 and PHP through 7.1.5. A malformed regular expression can lead to a 4-byte write off the end of a stack buffer during regular expression compilation, potentially causing a typical stack buffer overflow. With a CVSS score of 9.8, this vulnerability is highly severe, allowing unauthenticated attackers to achieve high confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts over a network with low attack complexity. Despite its critical severity, there is no known active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage surrounding this CVE.
