CVE-2017-8416

32
FAUCET Score

CVE-2017-8416 describes a critical buffer overflow vulnerability in D-Link DCS-1100 and DCS-1130 IP cameras. A custom D-Link daemon on UDP port 5978, designed for device discovery, insecurely copies received broadcast packets using strcpy. This allows an unauthenticated attacker on the local network to send a specially crafted UDP packet, overflowing a buffer and achieving arbitrary code execution. The vulnerability carries a CVSSv3 score of 8.8 (High) due to its adjacent network attack vector, low attack complexity, and high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion surrounding this CVE.
