CVE-2017-8415

31
FAUCET Score

CVE-2017-8415 describes a critical vulnerability in D-Link DCS-1100 and DCS-1130 devices, where a hardcoded password hash for "admin" is present in the read-only /etc/shadow file, effectively creating an unchangeable backdoor. This allows unauthenticated attackers to gain full control of the device with a CVSS score of 9.8 (Critical) due to its network-based attack vector, low complexity, and high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. While no public exploits or active exploitation are currently reported, and community discussion is minimal, the inherent nature of the flaw makes these devices highly susceptible to compromise.
