CVE-2017-5522 is a critical stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability affecting MapServer versions prior to 6.0.6, 6.2.4, 6.4.5, and 7.0.4, including Debian distributions. It allows unauthenticated remote attackers to trigger a denial of service or execute arbitrary code through specially crafted WFS get feature requests. With a CVSS score of 9.8, this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low complexity, posing a high risk to confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
