CVE-2017-4989 is a critical authentication bypass vulnerability affecting specific versions of EMC Avamar Server Software. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit this flaw to gain unauthorized access to the system maintenance page. This allows for viewing sensitive information, performing software updates, and executing maintenance workflows, leading to a complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Despite its critical severity (CVSS 9.8), there is currently no public exploit code available, nor is there evidence of active exploitation or significant community discussion.
