CVE-2017-4911 is an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the JPEG2000 parser (TPView.dll) affecting VMware Workstation (12.x prior to 12.5.3) and Horizon View Client (4.x prior to 4.4.0). This vulnerability, with a CVSS score of 7.8 (High), allows a guest or View desktop to execute code or cause a Denial of Service on the host Windows OS, but only when virtual printing is enabled. While not enabled by default in Workstation, it is a default setting in Horizon View, increasing the attack surface there. Currently, there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
