CVE-2017-3486 is a high-severity vulnerability affecting the SQL*Plus component of Oracle Database Server versions 11.2.0.4 and 12.1.0.2. This difficult-to-exploit vulnerability requires a highly privileged attacker with local logon access to the infrastructure where SQL*Plus executes, along with human interaction from a non-attacker. Successful exploitation can lead to a complete takeover of SQL*Plus, significantly impacting confidentiality, integrity, and availability of additional products. There is no known active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage surrounding this CVE.
