CVE-2017-16118 describes a Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS) vulnerability in the 'forwarded' module, used by the Express.js framework to process the X-Forwarded-For header. A specially crafted input can trigger this vulnerability, blocking the event loop and causing a denial of service. With a CVSS score of 7.5 (High), this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low attack complexity, leading to a complete loss of availability.
