CVE-2017-11136 affects heinekingmedia StashCat applications across Android, Web, and Desktop platforms. The vulnerability stems from insecure handling of RSA private keys, which are stored on both the client and backend, and encrypted using a key derived from a password hash also stored on the backend. This design flaw allows anyone with backend database access to decrypt symmetric encryption keys and consequently read user communications. Rated 6.5 MEDIUM, the vulnerability has a network attack vector with low complexity, requiring low privileges to achieve high confidentiality impact.
