25
FAUCET Score

CVE-2016-7115 describes a critical buffer overflow vulnerability in the handle_packet function of the MAC-Telnet client (versions 0.4.3 and earlier). This flaw allows a malicious TELNET server to execute arbitrary code on the client system by sending a specially crafted, long string within an MT_CPTYPE_PASSSALT control packet. With a CVSS score of 9.8, this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low complexity and no user interaction, leading to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Despite its high severity, there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
