CVE-2016-5714 is a critical vulnerability affecting Puppet Enterprise versions 2015.3.3 and 2016.x prior to 2016.4.0, and Puppet Agent versions 1.3.6 through 1.7.0. This flaw allows remote attackers to bypass host whitelist protections and execute arbitrary code on Puppet nodes by manipulating command validation within the Puppet Execution Protocol (PXP). With a CVSS v3.1 score of 7.2 (HIGH), successful exploitation requires high privileges but has a low attack complexity, leading to high impacts on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage surrounding this vulnerability.
