CVE-2016-3994 describes an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the GIF loader of imlib2 versions prior to 1.4.9, affecting Debian Linux and Enlightenment imlib2. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit this by providing a crafted image, leading to an application crash (denial of service) or potential information disclosure. With a CVSS v3 score of 8.2 (High), this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low attack complexity, posing a significant risk to availability and some risk to confidentiality.
