CVE-2016-3068 describes a critical arbitrary code execution vulnerability in Mercurial versions prior to 3.7.3, impacting various distributions including Debian, Fedora, and Red Hat. This high-severity flaw (CVSS 8.8) allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by enticing a user to clone a subrepository with a specially crafted git ext:: URL. Despite its severity, there is no evidence of active exploitation, publicly available exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
