CVE-2016-15058 details a critical credential exposure vulnerability in Hirschmann HiLCOS Classic Platform switches, affecting versions prior to 09.0.06 (L2E, L2P, L3E, L3P) and 05.3.07 (L2B). This flaw allows user passwords to be synchronized with SNMPv1/v2 community strings and transmitted in plaintext when the feature is enabled. Rated 8.1 HIGH (CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:L), it enables attackers with adjacent network access to easily sniff traffic or extract configuration data, leading to plaintext credential recovery and unauthorized administrative control with high impact on confidentiality and integrity. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, nor are public exploit codes available, and community discussion remains minimal.
