CVE-2015-1395

23
FAUCET Score

CVE-2015-1395 describes a directory traversal vulnerability in GNU patch versions prior to 2.7.3 that support Git-style patching. This flaw allows remote attackers to write to arbitrary files on a target system with the permissions of the user running the patch command, by embedding ".." in a diff file name. Rated 7.5 HIGH on the CVSS scale, it presents a low-complexity attack vector with high impact on integrity, requiring no user interaction. Despite its severity, there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
