CVE-2014-3636 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting D-Bus versions 1.3.0 through 1.6.23 and 1.8.0 through 1.8.7, impacting various D-Bus implementations including those from freedesktop and openSUSE. A local attacker can exploit this by either queuing the maximum number of file descriptors, preventing new connections and dropping existing ones, or by sending multiple messages that collectively exceed the allowed number of file descriptors in a single sendmsg call, leading to a disconnect. Rated with a CVSS score of 1.9, this vulnerability has low attack complexity and requires local access, resulting in a partial availability impact. There is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
