CVE-2014-3490 is an XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability affecting RESTEasy versions 2.3.1 through 2.3.8.SP1 and 3.x through 3.0.8, including Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 6.3.0. This flaw allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files and potentially achieve other impacts, even when the 'resteasy.document.expand.entity.references' parameter is set to false, due to an incomplete fix for a previous vulnerability. With a CVSS score of 7.5, it is considered highly severe, requiring no authentication and low attack complexity for potential compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage surrounding this CVE.
