CVE-2014-2959 is a critical command injection vulnerability affecting Dell ML6000 and Quantum Scalar i500 tape backup systems running specific older firmware versions. Remote unauthenticated attackers can exploit this flaw by injecting shell metacharacters into a pathname parameter within the logViewer.htm interface. This allows for arbitrary command execution, leading to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. While no public exploits or active exploitation have been observed, the high CVSS score of 9.0 and the straightforward attack vector indicate a significant risk.
