CVE-2011-5227

84
FAUCET Score

CVE-2011-5227 describes a critical stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the Syslog service (nssyslogd.exe) of Enterasys Network Management Suite (NMS) versions prior to 4.1.0.80. This flaw allows unauthenticated remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by sending a crafted, long PRIO field to UDP port 514. With a CVSS score of 10.0, this vulnerability presents a severe risk due to its network-based attack vector, low attack complexity, and complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. While not on the CISA KEV catalog, a Metasploit module and an ExploitDB entry confirm the existence of public exploit code, though community discussion and media coverage are minimal.
