CVE-2011-2462 is a critical memory corruption vulnerability in the U3D component of Adobe Reader and Acrobat, affecting versions 10.1.1 and earlier on Windows and Mac OS X, and 9.x through 9.4.6 on UNIX. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service. With a CVSS score of 9.8, it is easily exploitable over the network with no user interaction, leading to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. This CVE has been actively exploited in the wild since December 2011, with publicly available Metasploit modules and significant community discussion and media coverage, including reports of its use in targeted attacks against defense firms.
