CVE-2011-1036 describes a critical vulnerability in the XML Security Database Parser class within the XMLSecDB ActiveX control of CA Host-Based Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS) 8.1 and CA Internet Security Suite (ISS) 2010/2011. This flaw allows remote attackers to download and execute arbitrary programs on affected client machines by leveraging the SetXml and Save methods. With a CVSS score of 8.8, this vulnerability is highly severe, enabling complete compromise of integrity and availability with medium attack complexity and no authentication required.
