CVE-2011-0285 describes a critical remote code execution and denial-of-service vulnerability in the password-changing functionality of kadmind in MIT Kerberos 5 versions 1.7 through 1.9. This flaw, caused by an invalid pointer free in the process_chpw_request function, allows unauthenticated remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or crash the daemon via a specially crafted request. With a CVSS score of 10.0, this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low attack complexity, leading to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. While not listed in CISA KEV, an exploit (EDB-35606) is publicly available, though there is minimal community discussion or media coverage surrounding this older vulnerability.
